My name is Caitlin Alina, born and raised in Aruba. At 19, I moved to The Netherlands to pursue university and at this moment am following my minor here in Malaysia. This was the first semester at Taylor’s and doing something completely out of my comfort zone (in comparison to my study in NLD), at first it was kind of much to get used to, I go through waves of being relaxed to being overwhelmed with deadlines.
What is my passion?
I’ve been a creative at heart since my early childhood, whether it be arts and crafts, DIY, rainbow loom, painting, lego, all of it. I want to bring that into my adult life and reflect in my work.
What’s motivate you to achieve your dream? I would say my 7 year old self creating art, but also making my family proud back home of what I’ve accomplished. So far, I am doing great.
How do you want to visualize your dream into an artwork? Using a poster to show my art style and taste in color.
Part 2: Statement
Introduction
I wanted to create a piece that merges cultural tradition with a sense of elegance and identity. The artwork features a woman dressed in traditional attire, placed against the iconic Angkor Wat in Cambodia, surrounded by textiles.
What is the concept behind it?
This design captures the spirit of Cultural Prosperity: Celebration - A Totem of Renewing Festive Culture. The central figure serves as a visual totem, not only representing cultural pride, but also the energy that keeps heritage alive across generations. The patterns and framing elements act like protective structure around this figure, reinforcing the idea of continuity and reverence. I wanted to create something that feels timeless yet modern, celebrating how festive culture is preserved, reshaped, and re-expressed through digital art today.
What is the message you want people to understand from it?
Culture is something we inherit, but it also lives through how we celebrate it today. This artwork is a reminder that even as styles evolve, the essence of community, tradition, and shared celebrations remains strong. It’s honoring the past while breathing new life into it, so that it never fades, only transforms.
What is your motto/quote?
“Creativity is intelligence having fun.” -Albert Einstein.

Reflection
At first, it was honestly kind of frustrating because Photoshop wasn't cooperating, I lost all my poster files from the different measurements, which made things harder than they needed to be. I got stuck for a bit, but after watch one 2-min YouTube tutorial, everything clicked. Once I got past that, it actually became fun to move things around and play with the composition. I do wish I had more elements to work with, but overall I really like how it turned out. It was satisfying to see the whole thing come together.
